In Fintech and Crypto, KYC is the wall where 40% of users give up. The industry accepted this as inevitable. At Synaps, we set out to prove that rigorous security and frictionless UX aren't opposites — they're the same design problem. The work spanned both sides: the SDK that end-users touch, and the dashboard where compliance teams live.

The Anxiety Problem

The Knot

Why Users Abandon

Users don't quit verification because it's hard. They quit because they don't know what's coming. The moment someone sees "Scan your face," their brain runs worst-case scenarios: How long will this take? How many steps? Will my document even work?

Uncertainty Kills Momentum

Most verification flows reveal steps one at a time. Each new screen is a surprise — and surprises feel like friction. The user never knows if they're 10% done or 90% done.

My Key Insight

Show the whole journey before asking for the first step. When users see the finish line upfront, compliance transforms from an interrogation into a checklist. Transparency is the antidote to anxiety.

Turning Data Into Decisions

The Unlock

The Problem: Drowning in Sessions

Compliance teams were overwhelmed. Thousands of verification sessions, scattered alerts, no clear priorities. Hours spent hunting for the 3% of users who actually needed human review.

The Shift: Triage, Not Search

I redesigned the model from scratch. Instead of showing everything equally, the system surfaces what matters and hides what doesn't. Risk cases bubble up automatically. Healthy sessions fade to the background.

The Result

Managers stopped searching and started deciding. The dashboard I built became a command center — not a spreadsheet with a UI.

Democratizing Compliance Logic

The Craft

The Bottleneck

Every company has different regulatory requirements. A crypto exchange in France needs different verification steps than a neobank in Nigeria. Changing a verification flow meant filing a ticket and waiting for engineering. That's a 2-week delay for a 2-minute business decision.

No-Code Orchestration

I led the design of a no-code builder that gave compliance teams direct ownership. Drag, drop, configure, and deploy — independently. No tickets, no delays, rapid updates when regulations change.

Regulatory Agility as Product

Speed-to-compliance became a competitive advantage. Clients stopped asking "can you support this?" and started asking "how fast can we go live?"

From Chaos to Pipeline

The Impact

The Old World

Spreadsheets, email threads, Slack messages: "Where's that user stuck?" "Did we approve them?" "Why did they fail?" Information scattered across tools, context lost between handoffs.

The New World

I designed a pipeline where every verification is a ticket. Status, progress, and blockers visible at a glance. Nothing falls through the cracks because nothing is invisible.

The Transformation

The system we built shifted compliance operations from reactive firefighting to proactive process management. Teams went from "we're overwhelmed" to "we've got this."
